Love this series. Mercy is a great character and Patricia Briggs leaves you wanting to know more about Mercy's world.I highly recommend the cross-over series, Alpha and Omega. The first two full books in the series are very good. But start with the Alpha and Omega short story in the anthology, On The Prowl- you'll need the back story of Anna and Charles' relationship.
I know them when I meet them, and they know me, too."When I first picked up this book, I wasn't sure whether I was going to like it or not. Not to mention the fact that both men are deliciously sinful. In Moon Called, Mercy is thrown off guard when a new werewolf shows up at her garage asking for work. Moon Called (Mercy Thompson)"Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way, but they'll leave you alone if you are careful. Her character is in one instance down-to-earth and exotic in the next. All the while, denying the feelings she has for not only him, but also the Merrick's son Samuel, Mercy's childhood love.Moon Called is packed full of action, mystery, emotion and excitement. Five hours later, I had read the entire thing and dinner was not cooked. What girl wouldn't love it.
She tells herself she has no intention of getting involved in his life, but soon finds herself defending him tooth and nail (literally). They are very good at hiding their natures from the human population, but I'm not human. Sensing him for what he is, she hires him without question. I couldn't put it down. The personality and straight-forward manner in which Mercy is had me laughing constantly. A shape-shifting coyote who fings herself pursued by not one Alpha, but two. She soon realizes her mistake of taking on a new wolf and has to rely on Adam, the area Alpha to get her out of the jam she finds herself in. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading.
Perhaps not the smartest decision Mercy's made, since Adam, her next door neighbor is the local werewolves pack leader. Mercy is a mechanic and a coyote shifter. The main character and the heroine in this book is Mercedes(Mercy for short). Needless to say the young were means trouble and a whole lot of it - right on Mercy's doorstep.I liked this book from the very first page but it still took me some time to get really hooked. She was raised by a pack of werewolves and she has learned all the do's and don'ts in the supernatural community(a coyote shifter like Mercy isn't exactly on top of the food chain). One day a young were, named Mac, shows up at Mercy's garage asking for a job, Mercy feels kind of sorry for the young loner and decides to take him on as an assistant in the garage. Mercy is a smart and resourceful heroine, just the way I like it. She uses her brain and she isn't to stubborn to accept help when she needs it(it always annoys me when a character refuses help when it is so obliviously needed.).
I can't say enough about this book. And thanks for not selling out by writing crap just to sell more books. Well, now I'm reading the Mercy Thompson stories.
I began reading the Anita Blake books and had to stop. Patricia Briggs keeps the story interesting and keeps the readers wanting more. It's a great read with characters that have depth and personality.
I've finished book 4 and can't wait to start book 5. The characters lost their personalities and the books slowly turned into storyless porn. I was bummed because I really liked the Anita Blake books.
Keep up the good work Patricia. : )
The book starts out a little slow but it really picks up. I couldn't put it down. I hope there are a lot more books to come in this series.
